Design Fabric is an arts & design publication based in Mumbai where they collaborate with artists and designers to produce stories on various themes. Design Fabric was launched in February with the opening theme of ‘GIFs’. Their second issue was based on ‘IMAGE’ and recently exhibited their third issue based on ‘URDU’.
Since their inception, they’ve also organised several events – including exhibits and workshops. To take this endeavour of engagement forward, this month, they have launched their newest property, ‘WIP Sessions’ – a space where artists and designers talk about their unfinished, current and upcoming projects, largely to a young and aspiring audience.
From the team:
For the last two editions of Design Fabric’s WIP Sessions, we invited the country’s most galvanising names in art, design and fashion. The names included fashion designers Huemn, paper cut artists Hari & Deepti , type designer Shiva Nallaperumal, fashion blogger Kaysan Contractor , design studio Animal, visual artist and illustrator Sajid Wajid Shaikh, photographer Prarthna Singh and design strategist Avinash Kumar.
For our third edition of the WIP Sessions, we have invited creative consultant Rhea Gupte, multidisciplinary visual artist Harshvardhan Kadam, architect Zameer Basrai and visual artist Aniruddh Mehta.
Rhea is a photographer, stylist, creative consultant and writer based in Goa. Her work spans across fashion, travel and portraiture. She enjoys using words and imagery to communicate her thoughts and ideas. Her most recent adventures have been in creating digitally manipulated artworks. She will speak to us about three current works in progress: her Ethical Threads pet project, her digital art portfolio and the work she’s doing as a photographer with an NGO.
Harshvardhan is a multi disciplinary visual artist from India, travelling across the country and making large scale artworks. His works have mythology deeply embedded with a contemporary voice which gave birth to a unique style. Inkbrushnme, his studio has handled projects varying from Art Direction for animation and live action films, award winning graphic novels to visuals for international bands. In January 2017, he painted India’s largest artwork at the historical Yerwada prison wall in Pune.

He completed his Bachelor of Architecture degree from CEPT, Ahmedabad, India and graduated with a SMArchS degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA. TheBusride is an independent design studio specializing in the design and creation of built environments, both temporary and permanent. Zameer’s talk will be about ‘Soupy Spaces’. Soupy spaces are half abstract, half real. Since ‘soupy’ stands for everything correct in the world, their studio has been pursuing every possibility to make soupy spaces a reality.
Aniruddh Mehta is a visual artist based out of Mumbai, India. Trained in Graphic Design from the London College of Communications and a self-taught illustrator, he currently works as an independent artist and designer. He believes in finding the right balance between art and graphic design. His style ranges from bold minimalism to intricate geometric forms and disruptive pattern work.
